Around the World in Trams: Moravska Ostrava tram depot

We conclude a set of photo of Ostrava by taking a look at the one of the tram depots.

As we mentioned in the last edition of “Around the World in Trams” a tram hire saw the journey take in one of the tram depots on the Ostrava network and that is what we see here in this photo. This is Moravska tram depot which at the time of this visit was home to several trams not needed for service.

We see several different classes of tram in this photo. On the far left is Skoda 03T2 Astra 1204 which was built in 1999 and has been in service since then (although at the very start of its career it spent two weeks in Brno) – it’s the only tram outside the main depot in a white livery with the rest in the pale blue house colours.

As we move further across into the centre of the shot we have 1653 – a Vario LF3/2.E from 2011 – and 1756 (the tall thin tram) – a Skoda 39T ForCity Smart built in 2022. Other Vario examples are then seen on the far side.
